WooCommerce and marketplace integration

WooCommerce marketplace integration keeps stock, prices, products and orders in sync between your store and marketplaces such as Trendyol, Hepsiburada or Amazon. First decide which system is the single source of truth. Then, depending on volume, choose a ready-made plugin, an integrator service, or a custom flow built on the WooCommerce REST API, webhooks and n8n.

How do you choose a single source of truth for stock, prices and orders?

A single source of truth is the system that holds the correct value of a piece of data, while every other channel copies it. It is the first decision in any marketplace integration. If each channel updates stock on its own, the same item gets sold twice.

You can decide separately for three kinds of data:

  • Stock. If you run a warehouse system or an ERP, the source is there. If not, WooCommerce can be the source.
  • Price. Marketplace commissions differ, so most sellers apply a price rule per channel. The source holds the base price; each channel price is derived from a rule.
  • Product content. Titles, descriptions and images are usually prepared in WooCommerce and adapted for each marketplace.

Orders flow the other way: they arrive from the marketplace, reduce stock and move into shipping and invoicing. In Türkiye, issuing an e-invoice or e-archive invoice is part of that flow.

A note for readers outside Türkiye: Trendyol and Hepsiburada are two of Türkiye’s largest marketplaces, and the examples in this post use them. The same principles apply to Amazon, eBay or any marketplace with a seller API.

Ready-made plugin, integrator service or custom flow?

Each of the three paths is right for a certain scale and team. The choice depends on your product count, the number of channels and who will maintain the technical side.

Ready-made plugin Integrator service Custom flow (REST API, webhooks, n8n)
Setup time Short, through settings Short to medium, with the provider Medium, needs design and testing
Flexibility As much as the plugin offers As far as the service’s channels and rules go Whatever your business rule is
Maintenance load Plugin updates and WordPress compatibility Low, with the provider With you or the team you contract for maintenance
Data ownership On your site Passes through the provider’s system Entirely yours
Suitable scale Few products, one or two channels Many channels, standard process Custom price rules, ERP link, several warehouses

A ready-made plugin is a sensible start for a store with a few hundred products that has just opened on one marketplace. Integrator services are common for managing many marketplaces from one panel. A custom flow makes sense when your business rules do not fit the standard pattern: channel-specific price formulas, combining warehouse stock from an ERP, or orders that pass through a custom approval step.

The building blocks of a custom flow are well defined. The WooCommerce REST API lets you read and write products, stock and orders. Trendyol’s developer portal provides APIs for creating products, updating price and inventory, and fetching shipment packages. n8n is the orchestration layer that connects both sides, logs every step and raises an alert when something fails.

When do you use webhooks, and when scheduled sync?

The two methods complement each other.

A webhook tells the other side immediately when something happens. WooCommerce can send webhooks for created, updated and deleted events on orders, products, customers and coupons. It is the right tool for passing a stock change to a marketplace quickly. The WooCommerce documentation notes an important detail: after 5 consecutive failed deliveries the webhook is disabled. You need a check that watches webhook health.

A scheduled sync compares both sides at set intervals. It catches changes a webhook missed and stops the two systems drifting apart. Marketplace orders are often fetched by regular polling as well, although Trendyol also offers webhooks for order packages.

A practical setup: send stock and price changes by webhook straight away, run a full comparison once a night, and report the differences. Mind marketplace batch limits too. Trendyol, for example, caps the number of items per price and inventory request and does not accept the same request again within a short window.

Where does AI help with product content and category mapping?

The most manual part of an integration is often content, not stock. Each marketplace has its own category tree, required attributes and title rules.

AI helps with three jobs:

  • Category mapping. It compares your WooCommerce categories with the marketplace’s list and suggests the closest match. A person approves it.
  • Attribute extraction. It pulls required fields such as colour, material or size from the product description and flags what is missing.
  • Title and description adaptation. It drafts titles and descriptions that follow each marketplace’s rules.

These jobs are a direct application of content automation. The rule is simple: the model suggests, a person approves publication. A wrong category hurts visibility, and a wrong attribute leads to returns. Over time, marketplace data also feeds demand forecasting and ecommerce personalisation.

Which controls prevent errors, delays and overselling?

Overselling means the last unit sells on two channels at once. It comes back as customer cancellations, lower marketplace ratings and sometimes penalties. These controls reduce the risk:

  • Stock buffer. On critical items, show the marketplace a few units fewer than you hold.
  • Logging and retries. Log every sync step. Retry failed requests at intervals, and notify a person if they keep failing.
  • Duplicate protection. If the same order arrives twice, do not reduce stock twice; check by order number.
  • Webhook health check. Regularly check WooCommerce for webhooks that have been disabled.
  • Daily reconciliation. Run a short daily report comparing stock and order counts in both systems.
  • Secrets. Keep API keys out of code, in n8n’s credential store or a secrets vault.

Most of these controls come naturally with a well-built workflow automation.

Where should you start?

Start by mapping today’s setup: how many products, how many channels, where stock is held, which steps an order goes through, and which error happens most often. That picture often shows on its own which path fits.

At Corrplus we begin marketplace integration with this inventory, write the source of truth and the controls into a design, and build in short cycles. Frequently asked questions

What do I need to connect WooCommerce to Trendyol?

API credentials from the Trendyol seller panel, a WooCommerce REST API key with read and write access, and a barcode or SKU match between your products. Category and attribute mapping is part of the setup too, because Trendyol uses its own category tree and required attributes.

Can stock sync in real time?

Close to real time, but not instantly. WooCommerce reports a change straight away through a webhook, while marketplaces apply batch limits and processing queues on their side. Keeping a small stock buffer on critical products is the safe choice.

Should we self-host n8n or use the cloud version?

Both work. n8n runs as a cloud service, or self-hosted with Docker on your own server or on providers such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. Self-hosting gives full control over data, but updates, backups and monitoring become your responsibility.

Should marketplace orders flow into WooCommerce?

For most businesses, yes. Seeing every order in one place simplifies stock deduction, shipping and invoicing. Always keep the channel on the order record, though, because returns and commission work differently on each marketplace.
